Ken Makovsky talks about getting inducted into the Hall of Fame at the PR News PR People Awards.

“The best advice I got in my career was from Al Fleishman.   He said, ‘Leave St. Louis.  I know you’re a native of this town and we have a good sized firm here but go to New York.  There’s a lot more opportunity.’ ”

“A man I interviewed with said, you’re a law school graduate, why are you going into public relations?  Public relations is a field where you get down on your knees, you’re a carpet-layer of words and you’re just hammering those tacks in.”

“Public relations is – in a way – becoming more of the umbrella marketing technique that years ago they said it was going to become.”
