Julie Zawisza, Director of Communications for the FDA’s center for Drug Evaluation and Research, discusses the FDA’s communications enhancement, reputation management and transparency.

Some of Julie’s VlogViews:

“What the agency does well is generate information. If nothing else, we’re a scientific agency that generates scientific data. It’s not hard to put that information out. What is more difficult and challenging is to provide context and meaning to it.”

Sally Susman, Senior Vice President and Chief Communications Officer for Pfizer, discusses some of the challenges Pharma is facing. Recorded at the ExL Pharma Communications Conference at Pfizer’s World Headquarters.

Some of Sally’s Vlog Views:

“At Pfizer we have a three point plan. The first point is to talk less about what we do and more about how we do it. Number two is we want to talk about what we’re for and not what we’re against. The third point is really old fashioned but it is something I truly believe in, and that is authentic storytelling…I don’t believe we can change the Pharma story through facts and figures, but that we will replace the old stories by writing new ones.”

John Bell, Ogilvy: Evolving Social Media in Pharma

John Bell, Managing Director Global 360 Digital Influence Practice at Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide, discusses how Pharma has evolved in social media. Recorded at the ExL Pharma Communications Conference at Pfizer’s World Headquarters.

Some of John’s Vlog Views:

“Look at Pharma a year ago and look at Pharma today in social media. There are a lot more examples of experimentation. People are venturing into facebook or twitter, and there is certainly more innovation of how to use online communities. People used to say Pharma is behind and that regulatory issues are keeping them out of the game. I don’t think that’s true anymore.”
