Ray Kerins, VP of Worldwide Communications for Pfizer, discusses the company’s groundbreaking announcement and the reputation possibilities that can come with it. Recorded at the IPREX Reputation Management Panel, hosted by Ken Makovsky, Founder and President of Makovsky and Co.

Some of Ray’s VlogViews:

“We announced if you lose your job, if you have no health insurance, and if you’ve been on a Pfizer medication for three months, we will cover you for up to a year…People need help and with our ability with our experiences and our medicines, we should help people.”

“It goes beyond communications…Our ability to take down the walls, our ability to operate quickly and more efficiently, these are words we use regularly, we throw them around. We’re actually doing it…This is a prime example of us doing it differently and taking the bull by the horn.”

“Our leaders care so we say, ‘first of all, do the right thing, and make sure your goals and your approach are in line with what doing the right thing is’…[Pfizer] is a good example of a company saying we’re going to do the right thing, we’re going to take it on…Don’t get me wrong. There is a cost. We know there is a cost. We’re doing it, because we know it’s the right thing to do.”

Harvery Greisman, Group Executive, Worldwide Communications for MasterCard Worldwide, discusses his CEO’s meeting with President Obama. Recorded at the IPREX Reputation Management Panel, hosted by Ken Makovsky, Founder and President of Makovsky and Co.

“[President Obama] did make it clear that he thinks it’s important to have a vibrant credit card industry, especially at a time when people are looking for credit…But he certainly wanted to steer clear of the so called abuses in the system…Congress is coming very close to passing a Cardholder Bill of Rights which we support and think is important…We just hope that in the emotion of the moment and there is plenty of emotion in these moments, that the government doesn’t go too far and take away all the important things that creditors need when they lend.”

Michael McDougall, Vice President, Corporate Communications & Public Affairs at Bausch & Lomb, discusses the importance of inspiring trust and confidence in your employees and your clients. Recorded at the IPREX Reputation Management Panel, hosted by Ken Makovsky, Founder and President of Makovsky and Co.

“The question of who do you trust can also translate into, ‘I have more opportunity to get more varied opinion, to hear better viewpoints and make my own decision.’ That in some way will counter the lack of authoritative sources. I also think this new environment of very quick information flow is going to compress or shorten the cycles of forgiveness for those who have violated the public trust.”

Carl Folta, EVP of Corporate Communications for Viacom, discusses how the economic downturn has affected Viacom’s reputation. Recorded at the IPREX Reputation Management Panel, hosted by Ken Makovsky, Founder and President of Makovsky and Co.

“The overall downturn in the market has caused our reputation to become damaged but I think that when the market does return, and I think of this as a pause before the next growth segment of our economy, that our reputation will come back….We’ve all been damaged. You get a chance for a do over, you can start again and you’ll get credit for that.”
