Peter Himler, author of The Flack! and founder of Flatiron Communications LLC, discusses his views on blogging, the web and the state of PR on the web. Some of Peter’s Vlog Views are:
“It’s harder to earn the digital media than it is the traditional.”
“We need to be in the creation game, PR people are losing.”
“There are a lot of tenents for traditional PR that are still very applicable to digital PR and that is knowing the outlet, knowing the environment you are about to enter and understanding what the DNA is.”

I worry that in this brave new world of instant e-communication, we PR people are displaying a lack of facility with the English language. Audiences DO care about–and often are stopped in their tracks by ignorance of–correct word usage, grammar, spelling and the like.
I’ve heard a PR professional say, “Don’t worry about typos; people read right over them.” Is this new world really THAT brave? Many people I know who are neither writers nor editors simply dismiss communications they receive with errors in basic English (including resumes!), and I think that as professionals whose No. 1 tool is language, we should, too.
An example in this item: Tenets not tenants! C’mon …
Typoterrorist, many thanks for the catch, we’ve corrected the typo.
